Workplace Stress-Reduction

CLASSES - WORKSHOPS - LECTURES
with Gena Bean, Stress-Reduction Consultant

Employers are increasingly recognizing that mental stress and physical tension are the top reasons for illness, lost productivity, and job dissatisfaction.

Bringing self-directed "tools" for stress-reduction to the workplace benefits both workers and employers.

Gena Bean is a meditation instructor and certified Yoga Teacher. She offers workshops, lectures, and weekly yoga classes at organizations and offices. Her instruction style is very clear and accessible to beginners.

For more information about lectures, workshops, and/or regular weekly classes at your location call Gena Bean at 617-388-2036 or send email.

Gena Bean teaches weekly Lunchtime Yoga at The NonProfit Center near South Station in Boston. You are welcome to join class on any Tuesday at noon. The cost is $10 for visitors.

• Weekly Relaxation Yoga Class (at your location)
Learn how to safely stretch, breathe deeply, and focus using yoga techniques. Yoga class energizes the work week!

• Recharge At Your Desk Workshop/Lecture
Be inspired to bring more balance to your every day activities. We will cover some innovative ways to recharge - even if the only time available is the 30 seconds between phone calls. We will be seated in chairs, simulating a desk situation.

• The Uncomplicated Introduction to Stress Reduction
It can be overwhelming to face all the ideas of, "I should be doing this or that for my stress." Health care professionals, magazines, etc., all give out long lists of lifestyle changes for stress reduction. But many of us could say, "Even the idea of all those lifestyle changes makes me more stressed!" Without all of those "shoulds," this workshop will introduce simple techniques that you can do today (and at any time) to feel happier and reduce stress.

• What's the Buzz About Meditation?
* What is meditation? *Why is there such a buzz about it? *Are normal people really doing it?
Bring your questions to this workshop. You will receive a handout with answers to these questions plus information on medical findings and a short history of where meditation comes from. We will also experience a five minute meditation.

• Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction
Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn introduced the format for this 8 week intensive in his book "Full Catastrophe Living." This technique is used at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center's Center for Mindfulness. Over ten years of medical research is proving that this format of regular meditation practice is a powerful form of complimentary medicine. It helps people to cope with stress and also many physical symptoms and illness.
Gena Bean will be leading The Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program
in September at the NonProfit Center in Boston and also
in January at the Medford location. Click this link for details.

• Weekly Meditation Class (at your location)
Meditation is a tool for focus and inner strength.
This class can be an introduction for beginners, or a weekly support for experienced meditators and graduates of the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course.
