Total Relaxation Workshop

The next workshop will be on
Saturday September 6th 2008 at 2:00pm-4:00pm

The Total Relaxation Yoga Workshop at Salem Street Studio will be a fun experience in stress-reduction techniques for all levels. Learn yogic tools to be focused, calm, and happy.
All shapes, sizes and flexibility levels are welcome.

Cost is $25
Space is limited. You must preregister with Gena Bean 617-388-2036 or yoga@genabean.com

Details of the workshop:

The first hour of the workshop is very similar to the weekly Monday night Relaxation Yoga class.
For the first 5 to 10 minutes we will work on healthy seated positions that strengthen the back muscles and make deep-breathing easier. Then we move on to stretching and warm-ups. Once we are warmed-up we will practice a series of classic yoga postures.

During the second hour of the workshop we will practice a deep relaxation technique called "Yoga Nidra." It is a very easy meditation that includes a lot of guidance from the teacher.

Students that have participated in previous Total Relaxation workshops report feeling restored after doing Yoga Nidra. Many of the students are "repeat customers" who have attended the workshop time after time because they find it to be a healing practice.

At this link: http://www.consciouschoice.com/2007/10/hl_yoga0710.htmlr you will find an article about the clinical psychologist and yoga teacher Richer Miller who uses Yoga Nidra practice to help war veterans and active soldiers. The article says this about Yoga Nidra, "...with regular practice, Yoga Nidra unearths our buried feelings... and consciously guides us to safe passage. When we integrate everything inside of us, the good, the bad and the painful, what we fear or are most limited by bubbles to the surface and evaporates."
